What would happen if the government tried to disarm the people?

I have heard that Obama and Hillery are wanting to go into this UN treaty that would make way for total gun confiion and that they want it by 2012. They can somehow go behind the constitution to do this and they wont even need a vote by congress, plus it will be very quiet so people wont even know about it until its to late. It seems to me that something like taking peoples guns away is a means for an overthrow of the government and a revolt. What do you think would happen if this is true?
