How should I punish my 17 year old son for using profanity in my home?

I think if its one sudden cussword, just a talking to is appropriate. If its a pattern, then maybe a short grounding or extra chores. Also, my instinct is he is a bit old to , but since that was your instinct (and you know your son better) then maybe it is still effective for HIM, BUT wildly hitting a kid with a spoon is never useful.....if you are going to do so orderly and after explaining what you are abotu to do and why
