How can i improve the intro to my speech?
The “Vietnam War Statistics” doent states that nearly 5 million men were drafted to fight in World War I. In World War II that number doubled to 10 million men. In the Vietnam War, 1/3 of the total casualties, in fact, was made up out of the 2 million men who had been drafted. Ronald Regan once said, “I oppose registration for the draft…, because I believe that security of freedom can best be achieved by security through freedom.” Imagine yourself being drafted into a war you had no intention of participating in? Being drafted may have happened to your grandparents and it could possibly happen to you, too. I am here(OR I stand here) to persuade you that the draft should not be reinstated, but instead should be abolished. You should listen to me today, because the draft is unfairly established and will hinder, if not end, your dreams and the way you perceive your future today. In addition, if the draft is reinstated, it is most likely to apply to not only men, but to women as well.
