What to do about anxiety attacks? (10pts)?

When you have a panic attack, you're probably breathing through your chest (heaving your chest in and out), which not only makes the chest muscles hurt (and perhaps makes you think you're having a heart attack), it gets very little oxygen to the brain so it can make you lightheaded. Here's something you should try: Look up diaphragmatic breathing (which is very easy) and when you're having an attack breathe that way. It will get more oxygen to your brain. Then do some positive self talk, "I know it's only a panic attack. I've had them before, and I know I'll be okay in a minute or two." I would also encourage you to think about what kinds of things trigger these attacks. For instance, perhaps you should not watch police dramas or perhaps you should sleep with a night light, the door open a crack, or soft music playing. Also, some doctors recommend herbal teas, especially chamomile, which can be very relaxing.
